ARTICLE TYPES

Journal of Dental Innovation and Medical Sciences offers a range of article types to support the dissemination of scientifically sound, ethically conducted, and clinically or academically relevant research. Authors are advised to select the most appropriate article type based on the nature, depth, and objective of their work.

All submitted manuscripts must comply with the ethical standards outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). All submissions undergo plagiarism screening and peer review.

Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles report previously unpublished primary research findings derived from experimental, clinical, or observational studies. Submissions should present a clear research question, robust methodology, reproducible results, and a critical interpretation of findings.

Confirmatory studies, negative results, and studies addressing the non-reproducibility of previously published work are encouraged, provided scientific rigour is maintained.

Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses

Systematic Reviews synthesise existing evidence using predefined, transparent, and reproducible methods. This category includes systematic reviews, scoping reviews, mapping reviews, and meta-analyses.

Authors must clearly define the research question and methodology and adhere to recognised reporting guidelines such as PRISMA. Where applicable, a flow diagram and risk-of-bias assessment should be included.

Unpublished data, personal communications, or manuscripts under review elsewhere must not be included.

Narrative Reviews

Narrative Reviews provide a comprehensive and critical overview of current knowledge on focused topics within dental sciences or related medical fields. Submissions should not merely summarise existing literature but should analyse trends, controversies, knowledge gaps, and future research directions.

Narrative Reviews must be balanced, well-referenced, and academically rigorous.

Word limit: up to 6,000 words

Clinical Studies and Clinical Trials

Clinical Studies report findings from interventional or observational studies involving human participants. This includes clinical trials, pilot studies, proof-of-concept studies, and outcome-based evaluations.

Clinical trials must be registered in a recognised public trial registry before submission, and authors are expected to follow CONSORT or equivalent reporting guidelines.

Ethical approval and informed consent statements are mandatory.

Case Reports and Case Series

Case Reports describe rare, novel, or educational clinical cases that contribute meaningful insight to diagnosis, treatment, or disease understanding. Only original and well-documented cases with clear learning value will be considered.

Authors must follow CARE guidelines and obtain written informed consent from patients or legal representatives.

Word limit: up to 3,000 words

Technical Notes and Methodological Articles

This category includes descriptions of new or modified techniques, diagnostic approaches, laboratory methods, materials, or analytical protocols relevant to dental or medical research.

Submissions must include sufficient detail to allow replication and should discuss advantages, limitations, and practical applicability.

Word limit: up to 4,000 words

Short Communications

Short Communications present concise reports of preliminary findings, innovative observations, or limited-scope studies that warrant rapid dissemination.

These articles should be focused, data-driven, and methodologically sound.

Clinical Images

Clinical Images feature high-quality clinical, radiographic, or histopathological images of educational value. Submissions should include a brief explanatory text highlighting the clinical relevance.

Written informed consent is mandatory for identifiable patient material.

Word limit: up to 500 words
Display items: up to 2 images

Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor provide scholarly commentary on articles published in the journal or address topical issues relevant to the journal’s scope. Letters should be constructive, evidence-based, and concise.

Word limit: up to 1,000 words

Editorials

Editorials are published by invitation and reflect expert perspectives on emerging themes, published articles, or special issues. Editorials do not include original research data.

Word limit: up to 1,500 words

Corrections and Retractions

Corrections may be published to address errors that affect the clarity, accuracy, or integrity of a published article. Retractions are issued in cases of significant ethical or scientific misconduct, in accordance with COPE guidelines.
